Band Dynamics

“Your ego has about as much control over what goes on as a child sitting next to his father in a car with a plastic steering wheel.” — Allan Watts

This quote ,often used in Pink Floyd debates, made me think of band dynamics and how 'ego' can create amazing pieces of work one day and tear them down the next. Almost everyone I have ever met in bands/music/arts has an ego, this is essential if you want to get up on a stage or put your work out for others to watch, listen and comment on. However, the older I get the more I realise bands needs a driving force, direction to take them forward. Democracy in a band slows everything down ,if everyone has an equal say you end up pulling in different directions or writing songs by committee. we would love to hear your views on this.
